The best hitting Blue Jay in history, Carlos Delgado is set to be added to the Blue Jays level of excellence before Toronto’s game on July 21st against the Tampa Bay Rays. Carlos Delgado’s Jays career resulted in 2 All Star game appearances, 3 silver slugger awards, a Hank Aaron award and a 2nd place vote in the 2003 MVP race. Carlos was also one of the only players in history to hit 4 home runs in one game. His career Carlos holds just a few of the Jays team records:
- Doubles (343)
- Home Runs (336)
- Walks (827)
- RBI (1,058)
- Slugging Percentage (.556)
- OBPS (.949)

These are just six of the twenty six Blue Jays records that Carlos Delgado holds. Delgado was a fantastic player and easily the best offensive player in the history of this franchise. President of the Blue Jays Paul Beeston sums it up well
“Not only was he one of the best hitters in club history, he was one of the finest first basemen of his generation,” Beeston said. “More importantly, Carlos was a tremendous ambassador for the Blue Jays organization and the city of Toronto. His fun-loving attitude was infectious, and his tireless work in the community were truly his greatest assets.”
On July 21st he will join Dave Stieb, George Bell, Cito Gaston, Roberto Alomar, Pat Gillick, Tom Cheek, Paul Beeston, Tony Fernandez, and Joe Carter in the Level Of Excellence. The first 20,000 fans will receive a “Carlos Delgado Baseball” He will also be throwing out the first pitch, this will definitely be a great game to go to. It’s about damn time this happened, congratulations Carlos.
